Run For The Cure - Sunday, 5th October 2014
Our team “Soroptimists of Guelph” completed a lovely 5km
walk/run at the annual Guelph "Run For The Cure" event downtown. Our
team was 14-strong, including 6 Soroptimists (Joanna, Nancy, Diane,
Aline, Jennifer, Terrie) plus family members. The weather was rather
chilly and threatened rain at the beginning, but ended up being just
fine for a lovely walk / run. There were loads of happy people downtown
for this event, all dressed up in pink and quite creative outfits,
including lots of children and even dogs in pink outfits or with hair
died pink. Along the way, several families got into the act and
decorated their homes with balloons, streamers and pink ribbon signs,
and cheered on the participants passing by. All in all, it was a lovely
community event. Our team had a very nice outing and lovely chats along
the way.
Here is a photo of our whole team, plus a closeup of our t-shirt printed with our team name.
"Quick
story that amused me. We were handing out Lunafest postcards along the
way. I laughed out loud when Jennifer greeted Mayor Karen Farbridge
and immediately offered her a Lunafest postcard, only for Karen to
reveal that she already had one in her other hand! Well done, ladies!!!"
