Lunafest 2014 another success

Great Fun and well attended for the Lunafest Film Festival, celebrating women and girls.

WELCOME DOROTHY GRASSET TO OUR CLUB

Dorothy Grasset after a long absence was reinstated at our club meeting. She has moved out of Guelph a few years ago and as life would have it, she has returned to our community.

We were so happy to have her rejoin the fold and continue her service in Soroptimist International.

A testament to the commitment and joy of being a Soroptimist.

ONCE A SOROPTIMIST, ALWAYS A SOROPTIMIST!

Run For The Cure - Sunday, 5th October 2014

Our team “Soroptimists of Guelph” completed a lovely 5km walk/run at the annual Guelph "Run For The Cure" event downtown.  Our team was 14-strong, including 6 Soroptimists (Joanna, Nancy, Diane, Aline, Jennifer, Terrie) plus family members. The weather was rather chilly and threatened rain at the beginning, but ended up being just fine for a lovely walk / run.  There were loads of happy people downtown for this event, all dressed up in pink and quite creative outfits, including lots of children and even dogs in pink outfits or with hair died pink.  Along the way, several families got into the act and decorated their homes with balloons, streamers and pink ribbon signs, and cheered on the participants passing by.  All in all, it was a lovely community event. Our team had a very nice outing and lovely chats along the way.

Here is a photo of our whole team, plus a closeup of our t-shirt printed with our team name.

"Quick story that amused me.  We were handing out Lunafest postcards along the way.  I laughed out loud when Jennifer greeted Mayor Karen Farbridge and immediately offered her a Lunafest postcard, only for Karen to reveal that she already had one in her other hand!  Well done, ladies!!!"
