The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award Winner : Melanie and SFC Winner: Amy

The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards (formerly the Women’s Opportunity Awards) assists women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills and employment prospects. Many of these women have overcome enormous obstacles including poverty, domestic violence and/or drug and alcohol abuse. Live Your Dream Awards recipients may use the cash award to offset any costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education, such as books, childcare, tuition and transportation. The Soroptimist International Club of Guelph recognized their 2015 Live Your Dream Award Winner - Melanie - at their annual Awards Dinner held in early April. The recipient, a single mother of 3 young girls is currently attending Conestoga College, enrolled in the Business Administration Management Advanced Diplomas program, was presented with a $1,000 cash award to assist her with her studies. At the awards dinner, Melanie also learned that she was selected as the Eastern Canada Region Live Your Dream Award recipient and was presented with a cash award of $5,000 US at the Eastern Canada Region Spring Conference held in Guelph in May 2015.
